United Nations (UN) is highly concerned over the plans of a small sect of evangelicals in the United States (U.S.) to hold a day of burning the Koran on 11 September.
Action sect The Dove World Outreach Center in Florida led Terry Jones was considered contrary to "the UN efforts and a lot of parties around the world in promoting tolerance,intercultural understanding and mutual respect between cultures and religions."Declared UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, as it was delivered by his spokesman,Farhan Haq, Wednesday, September 8, 2010 New York time.
"UN Secretary-General is deeply disturbed by reports about the plan of a small groupwho planned to burn the Koran," said Farhan Haq, as quoted in the pages of international radio stations Iran (IRIB).
In addition to a wave of criticism has come from foreign countries, the internationalcommunity is now waiting to see whether the U.S. government will take legal steps tostop the defamation of the plan that the Muslim holy book, which is seen by many asevidence of Islamophobia and racism in the U.S..
UN Secretary-General believes insulting other religious scriptures can not be toleratedby any religion, said Haq.
Many Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Indonesia have held a demonstration denounced the plan sect. The rally was followed not only by Islamic circles, but also other religions, including among Christians themselves.
